Large Munsterlanders
Large Munsterlanders are first
and foremost gundogs bred to hunt, point and retrieve game. They work
naturally whether in your garden or out on a walk. When people ask me
what they are like I compare them to a cross between a border collie and
a spaniel. Munsters are extremely biddable, eager to learn and adore human
contact. They are incredibly affectionate, love laps & cuddles, irrelevant
of how wet and muddy they are! In the right hands they make wonderful
pets, excellent gundogs, are more than capable of doing obedience &
agility. Also, something which I love is the similarity between the show
dog and the working dog, not the case with a lot of other gundog breeds.

Willow is a complete delight. Willing, affectionate, bidable with a lovely calm temperament. She excels at everything she tries, obedience and gun dog training. We joined the Worcestershire Gun Dog Society last summer and have managed to take her to a number of training days which she loves. I hope to do some trialing with her after she has had her family.
After deciding to mate Willow I then spent 12 months choosing a suitable dog. Not knowing much about Munster pedigrees it took a long time and a few changes of mind. I eventually decided to approach Carol Saunders who owns Jasper as he had the most wonderful temperament (most important), superb conformation and type.
Willow sadly aborted her puppies 12 days early. We are pleased to be able to say that she has bounced back from this ordeal far better than we have. She was back hunting the common for pheasants and bunnies within a couple of days. This made our trauma easier to bear. After much soul searching and advice we have made the decision to try once more later on in the year.

Jasper and Carol have to date accumulated an impressive 5 Challenge Certificates, 3 Reserve Challenge Certificates, 6 Best of Breed at Championship Shows and 10 Best of Breeds at Open Shows including a Group 3 and Group 4 placing

The Munster has beauty, brains & temperament. It's up to the owner to channel that. A breed we have fallen in love with, one which is hard to beat.
